500g Cone of 100% traceable British Lonk yarn, fully processed and spun in Yorkshire.

Due to the overwhelming success of our kickstarter campaign, as well as using the fleece from Ed and Laura’s flock of Lonk sheep, which can be found grazing around the moor above Heptonstall, this year we are also working with 3 other nearby farms, all of which are known to Ed and Laura to increase the quantity of yarn available as we know so many missed out last year. (Head to the “About Us” section on our website to read about the farmers we are working with). With Lonk sheep being a rare breed we still only have a limited quantity available.

The fleeces have been collected and graded at British Wool in Bradford, West Yorkshire before continuing to the processing mill in Huddersfield.

This is a reworked yarn weight for the 2022 clip and has been developed for chunky machine knitting. It will be spun to a truer DK thickness. The natural un-dyed cones of yarn will not be steamed but go through an additional waxing process which will allow the yarn to flow smoothly through a knitting machine, the end pieces will need a quick wool wash to remove any wax/machine oil residue, this will also help to ‘open’ the yarn.
